Stump Shares New Solo Album Details

Gretsch signature artist Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy fame has announced new details regarding his solo album. Soul Punk should be out in February, Stump told MTV News via email, also noting that it’s  “changed dramatically from the album I alluded to a year ago.”

Stump also promised MTV that the album’s first single, “Spotlight,” will be heard soon. In the meantime, Stump has shared the handwritten sheet music for the song here.

“As for the delay of the album itself, I’d say it’s been less about the music or recording and more about all the other things that finish the thought,” he wrote to MTV. “I just want to make sure I go to sleep at night knowing I’m not half-assing this.”

There’s certainly no half-assing going on in this video of Stump in the studio back in January 2010.

Thousand Watt Stare EP Due Nov. 16

Gretsch artist Christian Martucci, formerly of the Dee Dee Ramone Band, Black President and the Chelsea Smiles, has a new band with Unwritten Law’s Pat Kim and Dylan Howard called Thousand Watt Stare. The L.A.-based trio is set to release their eponymous debut EP on Nov. 16.

Here’s what AMP Magazine had to say about Thousand Watt Stare:

“A brand-spankin’ new band whose members are more than experienced in the art of making Punk Rock music and playing it in the way it was meant to be played: fast, loud, and no bullshit attached. Blended nicely with it’s fair share of Rockabilly and straight up Rock n’ Roll, (and leaving all that Emo and Screamo by the wayside), Thousand Watt Stare may just be the saviors that Punk Rock music has been looking for.”

Jack White Rocks Eddie Cochran Tune with Conan

Conan O’Brien marked his return to late night television last night with the debut of his new show Conan on TBS. O’Brien’s good friend Jack White of White Stripes and the Dead Weather fame dropped by as the show’s first ever musical guest.  Together they performed Eddie Cochran’s 1957 rockabilly tune “Twenty Flight Rock,” with White appropriately turning to his Gretsch guitar for the number. Watch the performance below, courtesy of the Audio Perv.

The song is featured on Conan’s Live at Third Man LP.
