Buffalo Springfield have announced dates for a six-date California tour in early June, their first tour since splitting up in 1968. The group features original members Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Richie Furay, with Young’s longtime bassist Rick Rosas taking the place of the late Bruce Palmer and Crosby, Stills and Nash drummer Joe Vitale filling in for the late Dewey Martin.
“It’s hard to believe 42 years have passed since we played together as the Buffalo Springfield,” Richie Furay said in a statement. “Over the years, music never stopped flowing from each of us, and it’s come ‘full circle,’ if you will. And now, we get to share our hearts with you again — yes, Buffalo Springfield again!”
The band reunited last October to perform two nights at Young’s annual Bridge School Benefit, and been previously announced to play Bonnaroo on June 11.
Gillian Welch will be the opening act for the newly announced dates.

The Mrs. G’s Music Foundation, established by Gretsch Company CFO Dinah Gretsch, recently sponsored the THA’s Got Talent contest at Thomas Heyward Academy in Ridgeland, South Carolina. Held on March 15, the competition presented performances in vocal, dance, and variety by kindergarten through twelfth grade THA students.
On hand to serve as a celebrity judge was guitar prodigy and Gretsch artist Joe Robinson—winner of the 2008 edition of Australia’s Got Talent at the age of sixteen. Robinson has since gone on to perform around the world. Rounding out the panel of judges was master drummer and Gretsch artist Stephen Ferrone (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) and Felicia Lem, a local dance instructor and THA alumnus.
In addition to judging the contest, Joe Robinson and Stephen Ferrone performed together. They were joined by a battery of THA fifth and sixth graders playing percussion instruments.
Dinah Gretsch (who served as the host for THA’s Got Talent) established the Mrs. G’s Music Foundation in 2010. Since then, the organization has funded a variety of instructional music programs, as well as seminars, workshops, and concerts by visiting artists.
“I believe that music has the power to change children’s lives for the better,” said Dinah. “If we can reach young children with that power, we can set them on a positive path for the rest of their lives.”

Can’t believe this went down just around the corner from us and we missed it! Watch Jack White’s surprise performance outside his mobile Third Man Records Rolling Record Store truck, parked at a lot in Austin, Texas. The yellow-and-black truck is part record store, part recording studio and sometime on Thursday, White popped out of the mobile truck to perform two songs.
