For the first time ever, Lisa Marie Presley recently performed in the legendary Jungle Room at her father Elvis’ breathtaking estate Graceland.

Elvis himself recorded tracks in that amazing man cave, and his daughter turned in a smoking showing that took over the room.

2013 marked Gretsch’s 130th Anniversary – a milestone that has been celebrated with a wide variety of activities and events throughout the year. Below is a look at some of the celebrations that have made this anniversary so spectacular!

Announcing The Celebration
To ignite the celebration, Fred Gretsch sent out a message to the music world, inviting everyone to join the entire Gretsch family in celebrating their 130th year in the business.

“When my great-grandfather, Friedrich Gretsch, opened his instrument-making shop in Brooklyn, N.Y., back in 1883, he couldn’t know that he was establishing a musical dynasty that has continued over four generations,” said Fred Gretsch.

In January at the 2013 NAMM show in Anaheim, Calif., the Gretsch Custom Shop launched the beautiful G6118T 130th Anniversary model guitar. It turned out to be a gorgeous instrument, with a high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish in Metallic Gold on the top and Black on the back and sides. The guitar also boasted multiple silver-sparkle bindings.

The anniversary guitars were made even more special by the addition of a badge that boldly announced the company’s 130th year as a manufacturer.

“It’s a striking design and I’m proud to see it on our instruments,” Gretsch said at the time.

Austin Jenckes Rocks The Voice Before Elimination

This year on The Voice, Austin Jenckes has been killing it for Team Blake (Shelton), but unfortunately, his run recently came to an end.

Despite turning in an excellent performance of the Outfield’s “Your Love” while donning a Gretsch G6139 Falcon Center-Block Single Cut-Away guitar, Jenckes was eliminated, missing a chance at making it to the final eight.

For those that want to relive Jenckes’ rendition of the classic rock song, check out the video below.

The Killers Perform Live on Ellen

Posted:

The Killers have only put out four studio albums, but it’s undeniable that the Las Vegas-based rockers have enough material to fill out a greatest hits record.

The band recently did just that with Direct Hits, a compilation of their biggest songs – with two fresh tracks thrown in for good measure.

To promote the new release, the Killers stopped by Ellen earlier this month to perform the smash “When You Were Young.”  During that bombastic appearance, it was hard to miss touring guitarist Ted Sablay adding to the mix with his left-handed Gretsch guitar.

Watch the Killers in action below and visit their official website for more information.
