The Music of Neil Young YouTube Contest

Posted:

Proving he knows how to be a good sport, Neil Young is playing up the recent parody on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon featuring Bruce Springsteen and the show’s host, dressed as Young, performing a cover of Willow Smith’s song “Whip My Hair” by launching a video contest.

Today, the New York Post announced the details of the Music of Neil Young YouTube contest, which offers fans a chance to win VIP tickets to “The Music of Neil Young at Carnegie Hall” tribute concert on Feb. 10, and entry to the artist after-party at City Winery.

Entrants must create an original Neil Young Tribute video, featuring themselves performing or interpreting a song by the legendary songwriter, and upload the results to the City Winery’s YouTube page here, with a personal introduction.

The winners will be chosen based on the originality and creativity of the video. For more details and official rules, visit the contest entry page here.

The lineup for the benefit concert at Carnegie Hall features more than 20 confirmed artists including Patti Smith, The Roots, Aimee Mann, Cowboy Junkies, Bettye LaVette, Shawn Colvin, Keller Williams, Joan Osborne, Mason Jennings, J Mascis, Pete Yorn, Joe Purdy, DeVotchKa, Bebel Gilberto, Antibalas and Ben Ottewell (Of Gomez).

100% of the net proceeds from the concert will be given to six music education non-profits: The American Symphony Orchestra Music Notes, Church Street School of Music, Young Audiences, Music Unites All-Youth Choir, The Pinwheel Project, and FIKS (Fixing Instruments for Kids in Schools).
