Soundgarden will appear on the soundtrack of the upcoming Avengers movie, and the grunge gods have released a snippet of their first bit of new music in 15 years.
“Live to Rise” will be available in full April 17 via iTunes, but the short clip reveals a true Soundgarden sound.
The band, which reunited in 2010 after a 13-year hiatus, offers crunchy guitars and the nimble drumming of Matt Cameron.
Soundgarden formed in Seattle in 1984 and is widely considered to have been essential in the creation of the grunge movement.

Soundgarden received a heartfelt welcome from concertgoers as it launched its first tour in 14 years at the Molson Amphitheatre in Toronto on July 2.
The band’s 14-year tour break wasn’t evident in their performance – they sounded as good as ever. If anything, they came back supercharged, treating fans to their greatest hits like “Black Rain,” “Rusty Cage” and “Black Hole Sun.”

Chris Cornell confirmed to Spin magazine that Soundgarden will begin recording their first new album in 15 years next week in Seattle.
The Soundgarden singer also told Spin that the band does not have a set schedule or pre-determined finish line.
“We’re putting the music first,” Cornell explained. “The process of writing, recording, and being creative together is the most important thing, not meeting a deadline.”
After a 13-year hiatus, Soundgarden reunited in the spring of 2010 to play a few secret gigs before a very public outing at Lollapalooza. Watch footage from that festival appearance below.
