Pontius Helps Set Guiness World Record With The Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips embarked on an ambitious project this week with an aim on breaking the Guinness World Record of most concerts played in multiple cities during a 24-hour period.

The Flaming Lips enlisted a corps of openers, as well, tabbing Grimes, Neon Indian, Gary Clark Jr., Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and Givers.

The group also brought along Chris Pontius of Jackass fame to provide entertainment during the trip.

The Flaming Lips booked eight shows that took place June 27 and 28 in Memphis, Clarksdale, Oxford, Jackson, Hattiesburg, Biloxi, Baton Rouge and New Orleans in conjunction with the O Music Awards.

To prepare for the trip, Pontius stopped by the Gretsch Artist Showroom to pick up a guitar, which can be seen in the picture below.

Pontius Sports Gretsch Swag

In early March, the cast of Jackass 3D gathered at Paramount Studios for the Jackass 3D DVD release of their film. Jason “Wee Man” Acuna arrived at the event naked, while Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, and Ryan Dunn entered the red carpet through an outhouse. Chris Pontius took a much different route and simply sported his Gretsch swag. Thanks dude!

Jackass 3D Cast Star in Weezer Video

Weezer debuted their new music video for Hurley track, “Memories,” which also appears on the soundtrack for the movie Jackass 3D. In turn, Jackass actors Johnny Knoxville, Chris Pontius, Steve-O and others took part in the Weezer video, which was filmed at the Pink Motel, a well-known skateboard spot out in California’s San Fernando Valley.

The nostalgic video also stars a few legendary athletes, such as skateboarders Steve Alba (who also gave Armstrong’s signature model guitar a whirl) and Christian Hosoi, as well as BMX rider Matt Hoffman.
