Chris Isaak stopped by the set of Conan recently to perform with host Conan O’Brien and Basic Cable Band leader Jimmy Vivino.
But the song they played was from another legend’s catalog, as Isaak and Co. offered a spot-on rendition of Johnny Cash’s 1963 hit “Ring of Fire.”
Isaak chose to put that tune on Beyond the Sun, his 2011 tribute to the iconic artists at Sun Records, such as Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison and Cash himself.

Conan O’Brien marked his return to late night television last night with the debut of his new show Conan on TBS. O’Brien’s good friend Jack White of White Stripes and the Dead Weather fame dropped by as the show’s first ever musical guest. Together they performed Eddie Cochran’s 1957 rockabilly tune “Twenty Flight Rock,” with White appropriately turning to his Gretsch guitar for the number.
